Welcome to COPPR overview

COPPR is a joint effort between George Warren Brown School of Social Work and the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. The center develops and disseminates new knowledge to inform the creation and implementation of programs and policies designed to prevent obesity.

The Center for Obesity Prevention & Policy Research (COPPR) is the organizational home to transdisciplinary faculty, staff, and graduate and professional students from fields such as biostatistics, business, epidemiology, nutrition, medicine, marketing and communication, public health, and health policy. These members are engaged in a series of research studies with community partners and other academic collaborators designed to prevent obesity. COPPR also collaborates with public health advocates and policy makers to translate science to policy and legislation designed to prevent obesity.

Mission:
To improve the health of underserved populations by engaging
in transdisciplinary research that discovers and integrates new science into policies designed to prevent obesity.

Vision:
To be the nation’s leading research center and source of information on obesity prevention science and policy.
