Statewide Local Policy Assessment:
Funded by: Missouri Foundation for Health.
Phase I: Assessment
Goals:
- Develop a geographically representative baseline of Missouri’s existing local policies on healthy eating and physical activity
- Organize these policies to reflect the environments presented in the National Environmental Nutrition and Activity Community Tool (ENACT)
Methods:
- Stratified nested cluster design (sampled by region, level of urbanization – urban vs. rural, and ethnicity)
- 89 counties sampled
- 3-4 cities sampled from each county
- Policy collection from seven environments: school, healthcare, government, after school, child care, neighborhood, worksite
Phase II: Evaluation
Goal:
- Evaluate a sample of nutrition and physical activity policies collected during phase one
Methods:
- Sample 175 organizations for evaluation – policy provided during phase I
- Sample 175 organizations for evaluation – policy not provided during phase I
